Once everyone is settled and the news has washed over, mom and Elina go into the kitchen to make breakfast, now talking about brides maids and dresses, dad into the dining room to read the paper. I take these minutes and run to my room, slamming the door shut and locking it. I sit down on my bed and take out the letter, looking at it.
Who would send me a love letter? Who? OK, some guys in my class have given hints that they like me, they where never serious. I suddenly feel scared to open it, and had no idea why. Should i call Megan and Linna? I'd be good, but i need to sneak them in,
since mom wouldn't want visitors in the morning. But its just one of her things. I grab the telephone and dial Megan’s number.
Thankfully, she picks up. “Hello?” she says into the receiver. “Megan! Its me!” I say into the phone. “Can you come over?” I hear a bubble pop from Megan’s gum. “Sure. I’ll call Linna?”
“Yeah.” I say thankfully. “Yeah, that would be great.” and hang up. I stare at the opposite wall for a while, then get up. “Well, I’d better be ready with refreshments.” I think to myself. “In case I have to bribe them to stay.” I get some coffee and cookies my mom made yesterday, and bring them up to my room. About five minutes later, the doorbell rings. “I’ll get it!” I say, and run down the stairs. I open the door and Megan and Linna are there. “Hey!” says Linna. “What’s up?” she asks more seriously. “C’mon.” I say, and I lead them up the stairs to my bedroom. Once the door is closed, Megan says: “What’s up?” in a low voice. I take a deep breath, and start to tell them about the morning. As soon as we reach the part about the love letter, Linna squeals in delight and topples over on her back. “I knew it!” she said, hoisting herself up on her elbows. “There’s someone out there who wants to give you a big smooch, Emily, and I think I know who!” I blush deeply and then say, “Who are you suspecting?!” Megan and Linna roll there eyes. “Adam Linburg, obviously.” says Linna. “He’s been giving you the hint for months that he wants to date you.”
“But I don’t want to date him!” I say, my head on my shoulder. “I want someone special, someone who will take me as I am and have things in common with me!”
“Yeah, someone that you can only find in the fantasy world.” says Megan, jabbing me in the chest with her finger. “Emily, no one in this world is exactly what you want.” says Linna firmly. “I don’t expect to find someone perfect!” I retort, agitated. “I just want someone...someone who doesn’t date only girls who have big boobs, long legs, tight tops and no brain!”
“Adam isn’t like that!” said Megan. “Well, I’ve watched him for two years, girls, and hes not my type.” I say, glaring at them. “Fine, fine!” says Linna, as always, the rescuer.
“Lets drop this topic and take a look at the letter, alright, ladies?” she takes the letter off the bed and shoves it into my hand. Emily took it, and shakily opened it and took out the letter. “Well?” said Megan, while she and Linna moved behind Emily to look at the letter.
“What does it say?”
