Dear Emily [it read],
My heart beats for you, and when I see you, I want to take you in my arms. I love you madly, and I see you all the time, but it is so hard to tell you that I love you and who I am that you will have to give me signs that you love me too, and I could be *any* boy. I will put a rose on your pillow each day, and cherish you as my wife, if you love me back.
If you ever read this, love,
A friend
Emily and her friends gaped at the letter, until Megan whistled and said: “Ooh, he loooooves you!” Emily punched her in the shoulder, blushing madly. “Yep, he sure does!” chipped in Linna, giggling. “Stop it! OK! Stop!” said Emily, not able to take any more. “I want to find him! I have to!” I sigh, flopping onto the bed. “But it might be hard to find him...” I bite my nails nervously.
“It can’t be that hard...” Megan gently. “He already sees you, so it just can’t be very hard.
All you need to do is, when your by a boy, act flirty and casual.”
“Oh yeah?” I say, hoisting myself up on my elbows. “And how am I supposed to do that without all the boys thinking I’m into them?” Megan thought for a little while, then said.
“Well, there only thinking that you like them. If they try to go out with you, just say “Sorry, I’m not into you much.” Break it to them gently, and don’t let them think the worst of you.” Linna, who hadn’t heard much of this, having been rooting through a bag of chips, now looked up. “I agree with Megan.” she said, tossing us a chip each.
I stuff mine in my mouth, hungry, but Megan just puts it to the side.
Its not that surprising, really. Megan doesn’t eat chips much, so I just guessed she isn’t really hungry for one now, or wants to stop herself from digging in. I sigh, mostly to myself. I just don’t get Megan when it came to food. “Sooo....” said Linna, grinning.
“Who’s going to the party tonight?” I grinned at her. A few days ago we had been invited to a party at Mike Webbing’s large house. He was handsome, as well as his “boy” friends,
Evan and Rian. It had been long rumored that I had a crush on him, which I would have,
had he not been a big teaser. Good reason not to like him? Good. I never really believed the kids in my class much after my disastrous
tenth birthday, where some of the kids from school set a snake loose in the house, even though before they had assured me that they wouldn’t do anything bad with it. It scared my mom out of her wits when she found it slithering behind the coffee pot the next day.
We had to call a exterminator and a doctor, because she was quite hysterical by the time he got there. “Maybe...” I say. Megan just shrugs.
